in loving memory of my fuzzy friend
ashes, my fluffy grey kitty died yesterday in her sleep. she had to have been at least 15 years old. she was in pennsylvania with my mom, and mom called yesterday to tell me the news. she had been super sick (yet again - mom had to go through the awful force-feeding business like we did a few years ago when she still lived with me in petaluma), so it wasn't so much a surprise. but still sad.
here are some happy things i remember about ashes:
- she was super soft and had the prettiest kitty face ever
- we got her because my uncle saw her (as a kitten) and her little cat family thrown out of a car window (she was the only one who survived)
- she liked to chase hair bands and dum dums.
- she loved the rain, and would sit in the middle of the street looking up at the water falling on her
- she would go along with anything we did - like when kelly was super into "magic" and would wrap her in a blanket and spin around letting ashes fly out from beneath blanket, thus "disappearing"
- she and stripers had the cutest little striped kittens
- she loved sitting on the staircase in our petaluma house and looking down on us below
- she had the raddest rolling RRRRRR meow (i can do it well, so ask me some time) and a sweet growl too
- in cat years, ashes was at least 100. if i was that old and had to be force fed, i think i'd want to die too.
so, anyways, woohoo for ashes, dancing around in kitty heaven!

First of all ashes was MY cat, and she loved me the most out of everyone!! I called her pooky bunz and she loved it. She liked to lie on my chest while i was falling asleep and bite my nose (out of pure love of course). Her and stripers were married. We performed the ceremony ourselves. I used to dress her up in doll clothes and booties and take her outside on the leash that i made for her. she had her own personal doorbell I made out of a wind chime and a string attached to a cat toy, so she could come and see me whenever she needed too. She hairballed a lot. Her favorite movie was Austin Powers. She liked to dance with me. She loved to curl up on feet. She loved her catnip pillow more than anything (next to me and stripers.) She made funny faces when you scratched her butt. She loved it when you rubbed her big fat belly. She was never EVER mean to anyone. I was more allergice to her than any other cat in the world. She was my favorite photo subject cause she was so pretty. Most of all she was the bestest kitty in the whole world, and I miss her so much. Love you my little pooky bunz!!!!!
oh man, what about the noise she made when she was looking at birds? that noise was the coolest!!
ooh, and remember when she was pregnant and so huge she looked like a bowling ball with a head?
and, shoooooot, she loved me all sorts too.
According to this, your cat was only 70 in cat years. That's still pretty impressive.

Ashes loved us all very, very much. Stripers most of all. He slept at her side all yesterday morning, and jumped off the bed only after she took her last little kitty breath. She now lies in the backyard, under a stairway, and, yes, Kell, she is with her catnip pillow. She was, by far, the sweetest little old lady cat that there ever was, and will be remembered and loved forever. What a little kitten angel she's always been!!!
